How about trying to give the Composite 2D stuff a full fledge hardware-acceleration, too, and intergrate that into your Mesa build? That way, we don't only will have an amazing 3D graphics system, but also a fully 2D hardware-acceleration function, all into Mesa. If possible, this would be so cool to do. No pressure, really. Just a suggestion from a user who admire your amazing work, Kas1e. Keep it up :)
