I'll copy them here for reference: 
 
smartctl -a a1ide.device:0 
(Prints all SMART information) 
smartctl -s on -o on -S on a1ide.device:0 
(Enables SMART on first disk) 
smartctl -t long a1ide.device:0 
(Executes extended disk self-test) 
smartctl -A -l selftest -q errorsonly a1ide.device:0 
(Prints Self-Test &amp; Attribute errors)
