DESCRIPTION

Dune Legacy is a modernized, open-source remake of Westwood Studios'
classic real-time strategy game "Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty". It
keeps the original gameplay while adding modern conveniences such as
multiple unit selection. This is a native AmigaOS 4.1 PPC build using
SDL2.

This archive contains the engine and Dune Legacy's own free replacement
data (LEGACY.PAK, OPENSD2.PAK, GFXHD.PAK). It does NOT include the
original Dune II data files, which are still owned by their original
publisher and must be supplied by the user from their own legal copy of
the game.


INSTALLATION

1. Copy the whole Dune Legacy drawer to wherever you like.
2. Copy your own original Dune II data files (DUNE.PAK, SCENARIO.PAK,
   MENTAT.PAK, VOC.PAK, MERC.PAK, FINALE.PAK, INTRO.PAK, INTROVOC.PAK,
   SOUND.PAK, and either ENGLISH.PAK or your language variant, plus
   HARK.PAK, ATRE.PAK, ORDOS.PAK) into the "data" drawer, next to the
   already-included LEGACY.PAK/OPENSD2.PAK/GFXHD.PAK.
3. Double-click the Dune Legacy icon, or start it from Shell.

Folder layout (both required, kept separate on purpose - see KNOWN
ISSUES for why):

                  start), ObjectData.ini.default, ObjectData.leg,
                  QuantBot Config.ini.default, README.md
    data/       - LEGACY.PAK, OPENSD2.PAK, GFXHD.PAK, locale/, maps/,
                  plus your own original Dune II *.PAK files

Config, save games, replays and log files are all written directly next
to the executable (no assign/environment variable setup needed).


MULTIPLAYER

Direct-IP multiplayer works. Automatic router port forwarding (UPnP) is
NOT available on this port - if you want to host over the internet,
forward the game's port manually in your router.


LOGGING

Dune Legacy.log and Dune Legacy-Performance.log are written next to the
executable. Please check these first if something doesn't work as
expected, and include them when reporting a bug.


CHANGES IN THIS PORT (compared to upstream Dune Legacy)

- Native AmigaOS4 threading backend (replaces POSIX pthreads/gthread)
- Discord Rich Presence integration disabled (not available on AmigaOS4)
- UPnP automatic port forwarding disabled (no AmigaOS4 library for it;
  manual port forwarding still works for hosting)
- Automatic update checker disabled (see KNOWN ISSUES)
- Config, save, log and data directory handling adapted to AmigaOS
  path conventions (no $HOME/Unix-style paths)
- Fixed a bug (also present upstream, just never triggered by AmigaOS-
  style paths) where map, language and music file searches silently
  found nothing due to a doubled path separator
